TCC Freshman center Cooper Macdonell scored two third period goals to lead the Trojans to a 4-2 non-conference victory over the visiting Portage Central Mustangs.
TCC opened the scoring at 4:02 of the first period on a goal by Trevor Mattis with assists going to Max Schrank and Jared VanWormer. The lead was expanded to 2-0 at 14:04 of the second period on a Max Schrank power play goal assisted by Mattis and Lucas Little. Portage Central cut the lead to 2-1 on a power play goal by Jeremy Renda, a single assist going to Matt Ragains, at 16:40 of the second period then tied the game 2-2 just 36 seconds into the third period on another power play goal scored by Kegan Hoerle (assists to Renda and Hunter Carr).
Macdonell put the Trojans ahead 3-2 with his first goal at 7:33 of the third period, assisted by Mattis and Little, the added an empty netter with just 6 seconds left in the game. Caleb Morgan drew the single assist on the empty net goal.
Bill Vermetten made six saves in goal for the Trojans while Brogan VandeVelde stopped 22 shots for the Mustangs.
