The Traverse City Trojan Hockey Team will be supporting the fight against breast cancer this Saturday, January 14th. The proceeds from the 50/50 and “Chuck-A-Puck sales will be donated to cancer research.
The Division II Trojans are currently ranked #5 in the state and #1 in the BNC; they will be hosting #2 ranked Brother Rice at 1:00pm at Howe Area. It will be a great hockey game between two of the topped ranked teams in the State of Michigan.

TC Central opened Big North Conference play with a 3-1 win over Cadillac. The Trojans (2-1, 1-0 BNC) opened the scoring in the first period with a
shorthanded goal from Mark Jordan off an assist from Matt Jordan.
In the third period Cooper Macdonell scored a shorthanded goal also set up by Matt Jordan while Connor Gartland made it 3-0 with an unassisted goal.
Bill Vermetten made 15 saves in goal for the Trojans while P.J. Nemish stopped 32 shots for Cadillac.
Central fell behind 5-1 early in the second period before a furious comeback saw the Trojans score three times in nine minutes to go into the third stanza down just 5-4.
Connor Gartland, Joe Videki, Lucas Little, and Cam Givens tallied Central's goals with Keanen Armour, Cooper Macdonell, Givens, and Marcus Russell picking up assists.
Bill Vermetten made 12 saves in goal and Michael Wittersheim added 19 stops in the 8-4 loss.
In an early rivalry game that didn't count in the league standings, Traverse City Central came out on top 2-1 in the TC West Holiday Tournament.
Marcus Russell scored off a Nico Saco assist at the 11:52 mark of the third period for the game-winning goal in the consolation game of the four-team Thanksgiving Tournament.
Brady Brantley put the Trojans up 5:24 into the first period off a Cam Givens' helper before West's Jason Kloosterman knotted things up at 1-1 just 1:55 into the third.
Bill Vermetten made 22 saves in goal for the Trojans.
Nico Saco and Cam Givens scored two goals apiece in leading the Trojans to a 6-3 Big North Conference win over crosstown rival Traverse City West.
TC West took an early 2-0 lead, but the Trojans tied the game on goals by Givens, assisted by Cooper Macdonell, and an unassisted goal by Saco.
Connor Gartland put the Trojans up 3-2 with a powerplay goal, assisted by Lucas Little, two and a half minutes into the second period and Rhys
Adle notched his first varsity goal to expand the Trojans lead to 4-2. Assists were credited to Mitchell Ward and Buddy Rose.
Givens scored his second goal of the game, a shorthanded effort, assisted by Little and Saco notched his second, and finished the Trojans'
scoring, with assists going to Macdonell and Garrett Frain.
Bill Vermetten got the win in goal for the Trojans stopping 16 shots.
The Trojans found themselves down 1-0 just 1:01 into the game, came back to build a 3-1 lead early in the third period, but had to settle for a 3-3 tie.
Nico Saco scored two goals with Marcus Russell and Connor Gartland assisting on both tallies and Cooper Macdonell contributed a single score assisted by Lucas Little.
The Trojans held a 44-19 shots on goal advantage, including 10-0 in the eight minute overtime period, but a strong effort from Hancock netminder Devin Kero
kept the Trojans from clinching the victory in their first game of the Rick Miller Memorial Tournament.
Michael Wittersheim was in goal for the Trojans and made 16 saves.
Led by a four point effort from Cooper Macdonell the Trojans gained a 4-3 win over the Houghton Gremlins in their final game of the Rick Miller Memorial Tournament.
Macdonell scored the Trojans' lone goal of the first period, assisted by Keanen Armour, and picked up assists on both of the Trojans' second period goals.
Those goals came from Cam Givens and a power play tally by Lucas Little. Joe Videki also picked up an assist on the Little goal.
Macdonell scored the game winner with 4:11 to play in the game, tipping a Brady Brantley shot over the shoulder of Houghton netminder Tony Peltier. Armour drew a second assist on the goal.
Bill Vermetten was credited with the win in goal for the Trojans making 21 saves.
The Trojans moved to 3-0 in the Big North Conference with a 5-0 win over visiting Alpena. Central received goals from five different players.
Marcus Russell gave Central a 1-0 first period lead off a Nico Saco assist. Cam Givens and Cooper Macdonell scored 12 seconds apart in the second period,
both set up by Keanen Armour. Macdonell also drew an assist on Givens' goal.
Lucas Little struck 17 seconds into the third period on the power play, off a Saco set up with a second assist to Macdonell, and Connor Gartland added a goal off Saco's third assist of the night.
Bill Vermetten made 15 saves for Central who moved to 5-1-1 on the season.
