TRAVERSE CITY -- It didn't take long for Traverse City Central to strike in its Division II pre-regional Monday night with Mid-Michigan at Howe Arena.

Alex Goodhue scored 16 seconds into the game as the Trojans went on to post an easy 7-1 win, setting up a battle Wednesday with Big North rival Alpena (15-7-1), which downed Negaunee (8-17-0) 5-2.

The Trojans lost twice to Alpena during the season.

"They had our number, that's for sure," Central coach Chris Givens said. "But this is another opportunity for us."

Central scored five goals in the opening stanza to oust Mid-Michigan.

Dane Macdonell and Shane Darrow assisted on the Goodhue goal to open the game. Three minutes after that goal, Macdonell tallied on a power play with Darrow and Goodhue assisting. Darrow made it 3-0 as Adam Swy and Luke Stricker assisted.

Forty-five seconds later, Nick Aja converted off assists by Kyle Ulrich and Riley Huffman.

Macdonell finished off the early spree with his second goal of the night with Eric Swy and Goodhue assisting.

Central (18-6-1) added two power play goals in the second period -- Eric Swy from Huffman and Ulrich and Goodhue from Eric Swy and Macdonell.

The Trojans outshot the Storm 45-7. Hunter Kelly was in net for Central.
